I was thinking that even though the Sims forums are back up, I prefer this forum to that, so can we keep it going here? I don't see any reason to shut it down, but people will be going between the two forums if we keep it, so maybe people will be moving over to the new forum anyways. But I like this forum much better honestly.

I'd be game for keeping this one but figure I'll follow if everyone else moves to the new forum.

I have no intentions of closing it down, so I'm good with whatever. Plus I'm not used to the new forums yet.

Just my musings - not meant to offend: It seems a bit elitist to have two - one on thesims.com site and one off site. New users won't know about this list unless they are invited. However, that does also offer advantages. I figure in the end we will probably slowly migrate back to the "official" forums except for a few who want to remain in contact here.

I don't think it's elitist, especially not if there is a link to the forum openly inviting everyone in any easy to find location. People didn't seem to have a hard time finding it while the forums were down. With the limitations of the new forum I think it may be practical. I am rather new to all this, in fact this is my first list. I wasn't around before links started being part of the list and I must say I find them very helpful. I keep a tab open to the old forum page with the list next to the tab with the spreadsheet. That way I can look and see what is coming next (and at what time) then quickly switch tabs, click on the link to the next few sets, and see what my current CYS price is. If I don't have a low CYS price for something and it's not a must have item for me then I know I can step away from the computer for a few hours with no harm done. For me it is much easier than having to search for each deal. I think without the links I'm likely to just not bother unless it's a set I'm actively pursuing and then end up accidentally missing something I could have gotten cheap or free. It would be my own fault for not checking anyway just in case but I'm just saying I find the links very valuable. And it seems like the links will go if the list is only kept on the official forums. But I realize it is not my decision, I'm not the one that puts the work in, so if people want to use that one exclusively and nix the links I will live. This is just my opinion and you know what they say about every body having one. Also I think it's funny when David first made this forum I thought it was going a bit overboard lol. I was thinking, "Is that really necessary? You guys really do take this stuff seriously!" But now I totally get it and don't want to leave!

This is just my opinion and you know what they say about every body having one. Yes, the word 'elitist' does have connotations that aren't appropriate here but anywhere that sets itself apart from or has any sort of 'inner circle', can feel exclusive or cliquey to would-be newbies and that is something we have always avoided; we want these threads to continue to be as inclusive and welcoming as possible. I think it is wonderful that real friendships have developed among the 'regulars' here and other spaces, like the Google Hangout have been used to extend the conversations beyond the scope of the DD thread (although we do love going OT on thread as well! ) but, for me it's not just about where we regulars feel comfortable it has to be about where the new Sim Store bargain hunter can most easily find us and get quickly to the information they need. So, IMHO, we must have a shop-window on the main Sims forum where just by looking at the window display the casual browser can get the basic information they need without having to scoot around different places. For sure, once they've come through the door and realised how much content we've got they can then start using the awesome spreadsheet, the CYS calculators, delurk and start joining conversations and maybe even hanging out with us in the other places we use. With regard to the links issue, they will continue to work but the problem looks like it is going to be about just how many deals we can put into one post. Ideally they would all be together in one post but if not then they all ought to be visible on the front page. At the end of the day, I think we and the main list and information guides need to stay on the Sims forums but we need to find a way to organise that front page so it doesn't become difficult for Judy (or whoever else leads the thread in future) to maintain. Also I think it's funny when David first made this forum I thought it was going a bit overboard lol. I was thinking, "Is that really necessary? You guys really do take this stuff seriously!" But now I totally get it and don't want to leave! Mwwaa haa haa, eventually everyone comes over to the Deal side! We are not called "Sims Store Addicts" for nothing y'know!

I would say keep it as a place for DD stalkers to come and chat outside of the forum, share what they've made in the game, etc.
I did check out the new forum and I'm not sure whether I like it. It looks like you can't have a signature anymore, the default avatar is now a plumbob from The Sims 4 and it seems that The Sims 4 will be a part of this forum as well. The one thing I do like is the area for discussing The Sims 1 and 2 called The Sims Memory Lane.
