So, I've been playing Civilization IV lately, because I've been bored of Sims for a bit. Has anyone here ever played it? I'm at a point in my current game where the only way I can expand further is to attack my neighbors, but I can't figure out how. Whenever I click on a city to move one of my troops to it, he just goes IN the city, like we're buddies. (I've even used the AI players' ports to transport troops in the past.) I've had peaceful treaties with my neighbors, just not sure how to change that. Well, I COULD expand slowly, by just having my neighbors' cities revolt and go to me, which has happened several times now. But I wanna smash 'em all now! Done with the peaceful building - now it's time to kill! There are several ways to win in the game, and I could do a peaceful solution, but I'm getting bored with that. If anyone has an answer for me, I'd appreciate it. I'm playing this because I've been looking for a game exactly like it; a bit more building in it than Age of Empires, and not pure building like Sim City 4. So far this game seems perfect, and it's incredibly complex, which is awesome! I'm a strategist, but it's really hard to find games that are challenging for me. I play civIV a lot, and don't like starting wars all that much, but if you need to you'd have to cancel all your trade agreements with the nation you are going to attack

*pokes head in* The forums are locked, this is so weird. It seems they did actual lock a few minutes before nine, though we could edit until nine; I managed to submit an edit on a post right at nine, actually.

You should check out a game on steam called "Banished". It's like a cross between Sim City and AoE without the combat aspect. Warning though, it's really hard. As for your Civ4 question...Did you try declaring war from the Diplomcy menu?

I have to agree on Banished, and it does take some learning, trial and error. I've restarted my game lots of times after my villages constantly run out of food and people starve. Whoops.

I'm glad we still have somewhere we can talk. It feels weird not being able to post on the normal thread.

Hey all thanks for Keeping things up to date. I had lots to enter in as I missed out on a whole day!
Caught up now to current deal! I am still posting for the DD front page, but I wont be keeping any fancy markings or urls and such for the time being. This will help to allow the post length to be larger but still, once the DD list fills the second post I will stop updating the DD front page.

Make a Wish! That's a new one for the DD! I would have saved a few points as well, if it had come up earlier! I have a friend who wants it, but hopefully she'll have enough simpoints!

I'll have to check out that other game. Hard is good! I've played games before where you have to make sure you feed your people or they either starve or abandon you. Yeah, you have to remember, but after a couple of games where you mess up that way, you start to remember.
