Yeah, kind of looks like it. I have to say I'm a little guilty of that as well. I think there are a couple of things I need to reply to here, and I just haven't gotten around to it.

Actually, it's better there now that I know how to make the place non-eye-searing. I have my DV background again, so all is well, and even better (in that respect, at least) than the S3 forums with the RH background. I always preferred DV to RH.

The moderating thing is a bit weird, but I'm starting to have fun with the Likes and Agrees and Lols. I've rarely done a disagree - it doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do.

I used the disagrees for a few days. But a couple of people got bothered, and that was never my intention (I hadn't realized it was a big deal), so I decided to just hold off those for the most part.
With a few exceptions - i.e. I still pull it out if someone says something mean. I've just quit using it when I simply have a different opinion.

I don't mind the "disagrees"; it's the "flagging" of a different opinion that's got me hot under the collar. I swear to plumbobs, I've been reading threads that someone goes around just flagging people for expressing a different opinion than the OP.  Not nice  .

I am peeking in too. I also have been checking every now and then and it is quieter. I guess it is easier to have one main home, but a second home is nice to have as a backup. I am actually looking for the description of the kids cascade. Someone from Belgium would like another explanation as English is not her first language.

Frankly, right now I don't want to post on the main DD thread; it has me too depressed. I'm being targeted for disagrees and spams and abuse reports, although I've never done anything to the person doing this to me. Apparently a whole bunch of people disagreed his post for being abusive to me, so he's now taking it out on me. Makes me not want to go back there.

Marlin is looking into getting him banned for abusing those options. I don't know if she'll be successful, but he's a really sick child, and needs to grow up.

That is just crazypants. I caught up on reading that thread this morning, and just about spit out my coffee when he spoke back to you like that. What he had originally said had bothered me, too, and I was trying to formulate a "that's really ageist/downright mean" response that didn't sound knee-jerk, and when I got to your comment to him I (mentally) gave you a standing ovation. Then he went completely bonkers. I'm so disgusted that he's targeting you in such a juvenile way and I do hope that the campaign to get him banned is successful. 

I know I'm just a lurker, for the most part, but I'm definitely on your cheering squad.

Thank you. I put him on ignore before I ever saw his post (I still haven't seen it) because several people PMed me to let me know how nasty he had been and that I should ignore it. I know there's no point in reading certain things if you know that the post itself is pointless, and will just upset you, so I put him on ignore.

Which, weirdly, made one of the pages on the DD thread look like this for me:



I wasn't expecting to suddenly see my profile get marked with disagrees and spam and abuse reports, however. Marlin was kind enough to go to the tech thread and see if there's any way to do a sort of reverse ignore, so he can't see my posts and therefore can't disagree-bomb me anymore. A couple of the forum mods are looking into it, but I'm not sure if there's anything they can do.

I am going to call customer service about it as well. I don't know if there's anything they can/will do about it, but I'm going to try. It was just really distressing to see those numbers go up. I'm presuming he thinks I'm giving him the disagrees he is getting so is "getting back" at me, but I have never done that to any of his posts, no matter how much I disagreed with them. I very rarely mark a post with a disagree, and I don't think I've ever marked one with a spam or abuse.

And I actually know how to view the code on the page to see who is doing those disagrees. I have some tools on my computer and connected to my browsers that I use because I'm a web developer, and they allow me to see things that you can't otherwise see. (It's for debugging my own sites, but it can be used, obviously, on other sites as well.) So he probably didn't know that his disagrees can be traced.

But even if I can't, the EA admins can. Every time you mark a post with a like, agree, disagree, etc., it all goes into a database. If it didn't, there wouldn't be a way for me to trace it, and yet there is. So EA can see patterns, if they want to. They can see when people are abusing the system. Whether or not they will do anything, that's something I don't know yet.

Oh, and forgot to mention: I thought I had been very careful in my post to be as gentle towards him as I could. I hadn't wanted to embarrass him. I guess I hadn't counted on the power of self-righteous, self-centered immaturity. (sigh) I'm guessing he's young, but he's also apparently willfully ignorant, and completely self-centered, and those are two traits that I've never had much patience with.
